Peace

Peace

Just now it seems
I mostly know peace
by its absence
rather than its presence

Inner peace
makes about as much
sense
as
Inner peas
to me
just now

I still want to idealize
peace
as the absence of all
conflict

as if peace
were a place
of calm detachment
you can go to
for a visit
every now and again

Instead
of the striving
the working
the sheer effort
of making
and
being
peace

To self
to others

  1. I like your poem- and I think it really articulates my understanding of peace-and my struggle with peace--thank you for saying this and putting it where I can gather your wisdom and relfect upon God working in this world to touch my life when I need it the most- especially when I didn't ask for God to act in this way- yet God did through you

    1. Thanks, Melissa! We never know when words flow out from us where they will land - thank the Lord for the Holy Spirit directing the traffic of words in such a beautiful way.
